Pasadena : Hiring Goals Defined
The city’s goals for hiring women and minorities will be based on Pasadena’s population rather than the Los Angeles metropolitan population, the City Council decided Tuesday.
The changes were among those recommended in a $100,000 study last year by a Los Angeles-based consultant, PeopleWorks. The study found widespread racial and sexual discrimination in city employment. It also found that basing city hiring goals on regional population led to confusion and the perception that the city was not meeting affirmative action goals.
The city’s progress in meeting other recommendations in the study will be discussed June 4.
