BOSSIER CITY, La. — Three winning tickets shared $1,665,861 Saturday in a record Louisiana Downs Super Six payoff to patrons who bet the winners in six consecutive races.
The northwest Louisiana track began the program with an eight-day carryover pool of $1,043,490--believed second in North American racing history only to the $1,830,146 Jan. 23 at Santa Anita.
Saturday’s on-track crowd of 18,301 wagered $473,716, while Nevada outlets contributed $314,546 and Oaklawn Park bet $175,204. That increased the total Saturday Super Six pool by an additional $1,185,468, less taxes and other expenses.
In addition the three winning tickets which were paid $555,287 each, 117 tickets had a consolation payoff of $2,270 for selecting five of six.
None of the winners were identified by the track. However, mutuel officials said two of the perfect tickets were sold at Louisiana Downs and the other was purchased at one of the Nevada outlets.
