** 1/2 BoDeans, “Black and White,” Slash/Reprise. Strong melodies, good harmonies and earnest, forthright emotions all count in the BoDeans’ favor on their fourth album. But big, glossy production and ho-hum lyrics keep this competent effort from taking on deeper hues. Vocal echoes of Jackson Browne and Bruce Springsteen lend surface appeal, but at the cost of an original sound.
