Trip to Trestles--The Sea & Sage Chapter of the National Audubon Society will be the hosts for a trip to the San Onofre area known as Trestles in northern San Diego County on Wednesday.

The area there includes coastal sage scrub, a freshwater lagoon and a riparian habitat as well as beach. Some of the birds to be spotted are common moorhens, pied-billed grebes, yellow-breasted chats, red-tailed hawks, red-shouldered hawks, swallows and Nutall’s woodpeckers.

Participants should bring water, binoculars, a jacket and shoes comfortable enough to wear on a hike on a trail to the beach.

The trip was originally scheduled for today but was rescheduled for a weekday so as to avoid weekend beach crowds, chapter officials said. Those who would like to participate are asked to meet at 8 a.m. in the parking lot next to the Carl’s Jr. on the frontage road next to Interstate 5 off the Cristianitos Road exit. For more information, call the chapter office at (714) 543-7393.
