Hawthorne’s Brock Signs With Tigers
Hawthorne High outfielder Tarrik Brock, a second-round draft choice of the Detroit Tigers, signed a contract with the major league club Wednesday night.
Brock declined to disclose the amount of his contract, but the average signing package for players drafted in the second round last year was $118,000.
“It was a great deal for myself, my family and the Tigers,” Brock said. “I’m just happy to see all my hard work paying off.”
The 6-foot-3, 170-pound Brock, who passed up a baseball scholarship to USC, will report to the Tigers’ rookie league affiliate in Bristol, Tenn., on June 21.
