A cashier for a San Diego company that transports money for banks surrendered to authorities Friday after absconding with nearly $200,000 in cash, police said.

Nora Rivera, 33, of Spring Valley, surrendered Friday in felony arraignment court about 3:15 p.m. accompanied by her attorney, said police spokesman Bill Robinson. Police had been looking for Rivera since Monday in connection with the disappearance of $181,000 from the Armored Transport of California, he said.

Rivera had been a cashier for two years at the company, situated at 3610 Barnett Ave., Robinson said. Police say Rivera took the money in undisclosed increments between May 22 and May 29 of this year.

At the time of Rivera’s arrest, arrangements were made for the full return of the money, Robinson said. Armored Transport’s two main clients are Coast Savings & Loan and the Bank of California.

Rivera was taken to the Las Colinas Jail in Santee and held in lieu of $200,000 bail on suspicion of grand theft, Robinson said.
