California IN BRIEF : PALM SPRINGS : 3 Killed in Crash of Small Plane

A small plane crashed in the desert, killing all three people on board, authorities said. The single-engine Cessna 182 went down in the Bermuda Dunes area about 30 minutes after its 9:30 a.m. departure Saturday from the Bermuda Dunes airport, said Fred O’Donnell, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration. The plane was en route to Lake Havasu. The barren crash site in Riverside County is about 10 miles southeast of Palm Springs, he said. The cause of the crash was not known.
