Ivan Stewart of Alpine, Calif., won the Tecate SCORE Baja 500 at Ensenada, Mexico.

Stewart averaged 48.03 m.p.h. in his single-seat Toyota to finish the 428-mile race in 8 hours 54 minutes 38.28 seconds. He was nearly 23 minutes faster than Danny Letner of Orange. Winning the overall motorcycle title was a four-man Kawasaki team that included Larry Roeseler of Bloomington, Calif.
