Ruffin Remembered: Family and friends gathered at a Detroit club Sunday night for a musical memorial to David Ruffin, 50, former lead singer of the Temptations who died June 1 of an accidental drug overdose after visiting a crack house in Philadelphia. Singer Ortheia Barnes, who donated the use of her club, said the jam session was “our way of saying we care, we remember and we’ll always love you.” Ruffin’s funeral was scheduled for Monday afternoon at Detroit’s New Bethel Baptist Church. Superstar Michael Jackson put up $7,000 to pay for the funeral.
