Beverly Hills : Water-Use Penalty Studied

The City Council will consider adding a $15 per water unit penalty charge to users who exceed mandated water limits. The city was penalized $45,000 by the Metropolitan Water District last month for failing to meet April conservation goals and is looking for a way to toughen its mandatory water rationing policy.
The council will consider the proposed penalty charge at a meeting this month, according to city officials.
