A sobriety checkpoint will be conducted tonight at a location to be announced two hours before it opens, a San Diego police spokesman said.
The checkpoint will open at 9 p.m. and last until early Sunday morning, spokesman Bill Robinson said. Officers will stop cars on a preset basis and hand out brochures on drinking and driving, Robinson said.
If a driver is suspected of drunk driving, officers will conduct a field test, Robinson said. If a driver fails that test, the person will be arrested for drunk driving and be given a blood, breath or urine analysis, Robinson said.
