Lakers Didn’t Win It, but Season Shouldn’t Be Called a Total Loss

Magic . . . Magic . . . Magic . . . when I first heard you utter the ‘R’ word I felt a queasy feeling in my stomach and thought I was going to lose my morning Wheaties. Then I realized these were the mere ramblings of a tired and frustrated man.
Come on . . . guys retire when they no longer have fun playing the game. You still go at it with the zeal of a grade-school kid who needs to win to stay on the court. Magic . . . there are still assists to be dished . . . junior sky hooks to be made . . . young Yugoslavians to be nurtured and weaned!
On-court competition is like mother’s milk to guys like you . . . with it you’ll wither away. Another year or two please! Then you can trake your ‘Class Act’ to conquer the corporate world behind a desk. Right now we need you behind a high dribble and another championship drive.
