Youth, 15, Wounded in Gang Shooting
A 15-year-old youth was shot in the hip Saturday during a gang-related confrontation near the Little Saigon shopping area, police said.
The victim, who was not identified, was with friends when a conflict with another group of teen-agers developed about 3:55 p.m. near the corner of Bishop Avenue and West State Street, Westminster Police Lt. Robert Burnett said. The area is behind the Asian Gardens mall in the 8200 block of Bolsa Avenue.
“One person in the second group pulled a firearm and shot at them, and they all ran, and this young man was shot in the hip area,” Burnett said.
The youth was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange where he was reported in serious condition, Burnett said.
The second group drove off in two cars.
