Drowned Man Found at Border
Authorities found the body of an apparent drowning victim along the coast just north of the U.S.-Mexico border early Saturday.
The identity of the man was unknown, said a spokesperson for the county medical examiner’s office. He was described as a Latino in his mid-20s.
Law enforcement officers discovered the body about 10:15 a.m. along the shoreline at Border Field State Park near Monument Road.
The area is regularly traversed by thousands of undocumented immigrants on their way north. In recent years, at least half a dozen immigrants have drowned in the surf.
