Police on Sunday identified the driver of a car that plowed through a garage sale and injured 13 people Saturday.
Sgt. Robert Ensley said that Juan Manuel Romero, 18, of Santa Ana was booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police said Romero's maroon Nissan Sentra jumped the curb and spun onto the driveway and lawn of Richard and Ruth Haley at 930 S. Karen Ave. Romero also lives on the street, police said.
The car broke through a chain-link fence and dragged it like a whip, knocking people off their feet. Nine victims were taken to hospitals, but their injuries were not serious, police said.
Bystanders prevented Romero from leaving the scene until police arrived. An unidentified female passenger was questioned by police and released.
