Obituaries : * Stanley A. Chlebek; Retired Technical Director

Stanley Alexander Chlebek, a retired technical director for NBC-TV in Burbank who was nominated for an Emmy Award, has died at his Sun Valley home. He was 69.

Chlebek died Friday of a cerebral hemorrhage, said his wife, Fannie L. (Susie) Chlebek.

Born in Detroit, Chlebek served as a petty officer in the U. S. Navy during World War II. After he was discharged, Chlebek studied electronics and radar in Michigan. In 1950, he began working for NBC-TV in New York, and the following year moved to California, where he worked for NBC-TV in Burbank. In 1966, Chlebek was nominated for an Emmy Award for individual achievements in electronic production, videotape, for “Lorne Greene’s American West,” which aired in 1965.

Chlebek, who retired from NBC-TV in 1987, was a member of the National Assn. of Broadcasting Employees & Technicians. He twice won prizes from the California Lottery: first $100,000 in July, 1986, then $30,000 in February.

Chlebek is survived by his wife of 41 years; son, Gregory John Chlebek of Canyon Country; daughters, Adrienne Chlebek of La Crescenta, Jennifer Chlebek of Van Nuys and Suzanne Wisner of Vancouver, Wash.; brother, Ted Chlebek of Simi Valley; sister, Joan Schmidt of East Hanover, N. J., and three grandchildren. His son, Stanley Randall Chlebek, died in 1986.

A memorial service was held Monday at the Old North Church at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills. Forest Lawn Mortuary, Hollywood Hills, handled the arrangements.
