A Duarte man whose jealous rage led him on a shooting spree last August at a West Covina vocational school was found guilty Monday of first-degree murder and attempted murder.

Martin Anthony Meza, 24, will face a maximum term of 30 years to life at his sentencing, scheduled today in Pomona Superior Court. Meza contended that the shooting was provoked by his girlfriend, Lisa Villela, who falsely told him she had been raped by her counselor at the North-West College of Medical & Dental Assistants. Villela, 20, who served six months for being the getaway driver, said she made up the story because Meza had accused her of infidelity and had repeatedly beaten her.

Nursing instructor Carolyn Ruth Vasquez, 36, of West Covina, was killed. The counselor, Robin Stanford, 28, of Rancho Cucamonga, and a student, Ronald Lee, 18, of Rosemead, were wounded.
