Making It All Clear: Not that she was ever officially signed for the role, but Columbia Pictures and Debra Winger want to correct press speculation about why she isn’t in “A League of Their Own,” the upcoming baseball movie in which Madonna has a role. She did not “walk off” the picture, Columbia says. She was approached, but “Columbia Pictures decided to take the film in a different creative direction,” explains Columbia’s chief Frank Price. To cement all this, Columbia and Winger announced an agreement regarding a future picture. Still to be announced: Who will take the role?
