Body Believed to Be Missing Lancaster Man

A body believed to be that of a 75-year-old Lancaster man who disappeared earlier this month was found Tuesday in a ravine in the San Bernardino Mountains.

There was no evidence of foul, authorities said. The body was found at 9:30 a.m. by San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies.

Joseph Bone left his home June 3 by car to visit his daughter in Alhambra, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Rich Erickson. Deputies from both departments had been searching for him since.

Bone’s car was found on a remote road near California 138 in the Lake Silverwood area of the San Bernadino National Forest on Thursday, Erickson said.

The body has not been positively identified, said San Bernardino County Deputy Coroner Monika Padilla, but evidence found at the scene indicated that it was the missing man.

“There does not appear to be any evidence of foul play,” said Padilla, adding that coroners would not know the cause of death until an autopsy is performed later this week. “It appeared that he was just lost.”
