A routine traffic stop on Camino Capistrano resulted in the arrest of two South County men and a juvenile on charges of commercial burglary early Thursday.

Jose Luis Martinez, 23, of Laguna Hills, Daniel Garcia, 19, of Mission Viejo, and a 17-year-old from Mission Viejo were arrested at 4:40 a.m. after a deputy stopped their car near Avery Parkway for having a broken headlight, Sheriff’s Lt. Robert Rivas said. When the driver, Martinez, stepped out of the car, a necklace with a ring on it fell out of his lap.

One of his passengers, Garcia, was found to be bleeding from various cuts on his back, hands and arms. “The deputy first saw blood on his shoes,” Rivas said.

The suspects were traced to two burglaries reported earlier in the evening: at Zoom, a clothing store in the 23000 block of El Toro Road, and Mission Jewelers on Del Obispo Street in San Juan Capistrano.

A burglary had been reported at Zoom at 3:54 a.m. when someone smashed the front window with a six-pack of beer, took a variety of undisclosed items and left a substantial amount of blood at the scene, Rivas said. A little while later, another window was smashed at the jewelry store, and jewelry was taken.

Rivas said the three suspects later admitted the thefts and the clothing from Zoom was recovered from a Laguna Hills residence.
