SANTA PAULA : Caltrans Worker Hurt; Driver Held

Share

A Caltrans worker was injured on California 126 on Tuesday when a speeding motorist driving a reportedly stolen car collided with the tractor he was operating, officials said.

Clarence Keller, 48, of Piru was taken to Santa Paula Memorial Hospital and treated for a broken arm, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol said.

The state Department of Transportation worker was crossing the westbound lanes at a slow speed with a lawn mower-tractor when a car plowed into the rear of the tractor near the Palm Avenue exit. The driver fled the scene on foot, leaving the car, which had been reported stolen in Hayward. Authorities later arrested Mark Serrano, 21, in Santa Paula, the spokesman said.
