If you need a break from grass-court tennis or holiday weekend sun, it’s best to have cable.

Anyone interested in an in-depth look at Supreme Court nominee Judge Clarence Thomas might want to check out C-SPAN today between 9:50 a.m. and 4 p.m. The public affairs network plans to repeat Thomas’ entire testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee given in February, 1990, following his nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals. C-SPAN 2 will repeat this program Sunday at 4:45 p.m.

The merits of the Thomas nomination will also be debated on “The McLaughlin Group” today at 4 p.m. on Channel 4. The program will also include talk about the recession and the Iraqi nuclear threat.
