CAMARILLO : Deputies Shoot Man They Say Had Gun
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies shot a 70-year-old Camarillo man early Saturday morning after he allegedly threatened them with a shotgun, authorities said.
Walter Langley, who was shot once in the upper left arm, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Barnes.
At 12:40 a.m. Saturday, Deputies Brett Cox and Jose Rivas were called to the 200 block of Gardenia Avenue where a man reportedly brandished a gun during a dispute concerning a citizen’s band radio. The officers were confronted by Langley, who was armed with a shotgun, Barnes said.
The deputies identified themselves and ordered Langley to drop his weapon, Barnes said. When Langley put a round in his pump shotgun and pointed it at the officers, both deputies opened fire, Barnes said.
Langley was treated at Pleasant Valley Hospital and taken to Ventura County Jail, where he was held Saturday in lieu of $10,000 bail.
