I had a business for 25 years in South-Central L.A. I had a very good rapport with the police there. Several times we were burglarized, and it meant going (there) in the middle of the night to see what was happening. The police were always there, waiting for me. They knew me.

I had two experiences (of being robbed and assaulted). The police came right away. They were very solicitous. They were caring. That’s my evaluation.

I happen to be white. I happen to live in a nice area. But I can’t see the police acting any different with the next person. That’s my feeling.
