OXNARD : Little Cocaine Found in Raids of 7 Homes

Share

A team of 60 law enforcement officers raided seven Oxnard residences for drugs early Thursday, but came away with a relatively small quantity of cocaine, authorities said.

Members of the Oxnard Police Department’s narcotics unit, which orchestrated the raid after a two-month undercover operation, were assisted by officers from the Ventura and Port Hueneme police departments, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, the district attorney’s office and the state Department of Motor Vehicles.

Oxnard Detective Sgt. Joe Munoz, supervisor of the narcotics squad, said the 5:45 a.m. raids resulted in the seizure of less than an ounce of cocaine from the six suspects arrested. Munoz could not say why the sweep was not more fruitful, but he said narcotics officers had made several undercover purchases of cocaine from some residents before the raids.

Four of the seven homes were in the 1300 block of Felicia Court.

Arrested were Donald Dixon, 18, of the 100 block of Driskill Street on suspicion of two counts of narcotics sales and of using a minor to sell drugs; Lamont Dixon, 24, of the same address, on suspicion of possession of narcotics paraphernalia and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant; Francisco Romero, 18, of the 1300 block of Felicia Court, on suspicion of possession of narcotics for sale; and Gina Garcia, 22, of the 1800 block of Santa Lucia Avenue, on suspicion of selling narcotics.

Two juveniles were also arrested--one on suspicion of selling narcotics and the other on suspicion of strong-armed robbery and two counts of selling a non-narcotic substance passed off as drugs.
