All-Star Comments Put Dodgers’ Morgan at Back of the Class

Share

How interesting to note the comments of two local major league ballplayers who were (initially) passed over for selection to the All-Star game.

The Dodgers’ Mike Morgan whined that his being left off the team “shows that the game is a joke. . . . Whoever chose these teams didn’t know what they were looking at. They did not take the best.”

Wally Joyner of the Angels, owner of the American League’s second-highest batting average, chose to praise his teammates who made it: “I’m happy for Mark (Langston) and (Bryan Harvey). . . . They both deserve to be there.”

One of these players continues to exhibit class and professionalism on and off the field, while the other seems to be conscious only of himself.
