La Verne : Water Restrictions Loosened

Share

The City Council, rewarding residents for conserving, has loosened water restrictions.

Under rules approved Thursday, single-family residential customers may now use 40% more water without paying a penalty.

Such customers are entitled to use 28,000 gallons during every two-month billing cycle. This represents an increase of 8,000 gallons. Households using more than 28,000 gallons will pay a penalty of 18 cents for every 1,000 gallons extra, up to 38,000. Beyond that, higher surcharges increase incrementally with use.

Mayor Jon Harry Blickenstaff said the main reason for the change is that “the citizens of La Verne have responded so well” to requests for water conservation.
