Bay Tours--The California Department of Fish and Game will offer guided tours of the Upper Newport Bay Ecological Reserve beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday. The tours will run continuously until 10:15 a.m.

Even though there are not as many birds at the bay now as in the winter months, there are still many of note to see, including the impressively large great blue herons. Also present are light-footed clapper rails and least terns, both of which are on the federal and state endangered species lists.

Those who would like to take a tour are asked to meet at Backbay and Eastbluff drives in Newport Beach. The tour fee of $2.25 will be waived for those who become California Wildlife Campaign members. For more information, call (714) 640-6746.
