A new 11,000-square-foot medical clinic serving working-class families in Oxnard is scheduled to open next month near the Center Point Mall on Channel Islands Boulevard, Ventura County Supervisor John K. Flynn announced Monday.

Las Islas Family Clinic, to be in a building formerly occupied by a restaurant, is being renovated and furnished with about $1 million in state tobacco tax revenue.

Patients will pay for medical services on a sliding scale according to their ability to pay, said Pierre Durand, assistant director of the county’s Health Care Agency. He said the county has successfully operated similar clinics in Ventura, Simi Valley, Oxnard and Santa Paula.

Rast, a former Philadelphia resident who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine; and Robert Keith Moffatt of Los Angeles, who graduated from the UCLA School of Medicine.
