George Foreman and promoter Bob Arum filed a $100-million suit against Evander Holyfield and his advisers Tuesday seeking to prevent the heavyweight champion from fighting Mike Tyson in his next defense.

The suit, filed in state district court in Houston, claimed Holyfield, promoter Dan Duva and adviser Shelly Finkel broke a contract that would have set up a November rematch between Foreman and Holyfield when they signed instead for a Nov. 8 bout against Tyson.

The suit charged that the defendants “made false representations” so they could use Foreman “as leverage to obtain more favorable terms with Tyson.”

Had Foreman fought Holyfield again and defeated him, he would have made an estimated $30 million in a battle with Tyson, the suit filed by Foreman’s attorney, William Fred Hagans, said.

Holyfield defended his title against the 42-year-old Foreman April 19 by winning a unanimous 12-round decision.
