Three men were shot to death in a series of unrelated attacks over a six-hour period in South Los Angeles, police said Thursday. “The one thing (the shootings) had in common was zero witnesses,” Detective Paul Mize said. He said there were no apparent motives for the shootings and no suspects.

Frederic Wilkens, 32, was shot in his car about 2:50 a.m. Thursday after he stopped at a stop sign. “Someone ran up to him with a shotgun and mortally wounded him,” Mize said. Wilkens, who lived in Southwest Los Angeles, died at California Medical Center.

At about 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, Donald Ray Thomas, 35, of Rowland Heights, was found in a parking lot at 4271 Crenshaw Blvd. after being shot several times, Mize said. “We’re trying to locate witnesses,” he said.
