Fire Services

Share

In reading about recent cutbacks in the Los Angeles Fire Department, I can only wonder when will we wake up and say enough! Firemen are perhaps the last heroes in America. They risk their lives for us, save our lives and homes and never taint their profession with corruption. Rarely are they sufficiently compensated for such services. Here in Los Angeles, where we have endured four years of drought and now head into the fire season, this is the worst time to be facing cutbacks in the fire department.

When will taxpayers unite and insist on adequate basic services--firemen, policemen, utilities, schools--rather than allowing our elected officials to indulge in special interest groups, travel, unnecessary studies, monthly “operating” fees and so on. Better firemen than councilmen!
