The attitudes of the American culture can be defined by the “family” shows on television. The time of unrealistic innocence was exemplified by “The Donna Reed Show” and others like it.
Then came “All in the Family,” with its more giving, warmhearted, intelligent era.
Now, unfortunately, we have “Married . . . With Children” (Fox), leaving those of us who would try to live up to ideals criticized for being “politically correct.”
Does TV reflect life, or is life inspired by what we see on our tubes? It’s a frightening concept to contemplate at this time in history.
