Various lanes of Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood will be closed for resurfacing this week during non-peak hours, Caltrans has announced.

Workers will remove and replace the asphalt base in areas next to the curb. The work will begin Monday and end Friday.

A 1 1/2-mile strip of the boulevard will be affected, from the westbound Hollywood Freeway west to Seward Street, state Department of Transportation officials say.

Workers also will resurface Highland Avenue from Sunset Boulevard to Odin Street in front of the Hollywood Bowl on Monday evenings only.

Vernon Paving is the contractor for both phases of the project, which Caltrans said is expected to cost $295,000.
