Motorcyclist Hit by Pickup
A motorcyclist was severely injured Sunday after his vehicle was struck by a pickup along a rural road in Carlsbad, police said.
The accident occurred about 2:30 p.m. as the unidentified cyclist was northbound on Rancho Santa Fe Road just north of La Costa Avenue. A low-slung blue pickup truck with mag-type wheels suddenly veered over, striking the cycle, which flipped three times before coming to rest, police said.
The motorcyclist, identified as a man in his 40s, was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital with severe head injuries, according to a Carlsbad police dispatcher.
The driver of the truck was being sought.
