THOUSAND OAKS : Westlake Boulevard Extension Opens

A $9.5-million road linking the North Ranch area with central portions of Thousand Oaks will save commuters and Ventura County sheriff’s and fire crews travel time, city officials and a developer said Monday.
City leaders and representatives of Lang Ranch Co. celebrated the completion of the two-lane extension that connects Westlake Boulevard north of Kanan Road to Avenida de los Arboles.
It will link the Moorpark and Ventura freeways for 2,257 new houses and apartments near Westlake Boulevard.
The first vehicles to travel on the extension included a stagecoach pulled by a team of horses and a solar-powered automobile.
