Tyson-Holyfield Is a Fast Sellout
Mike Tyson’s legal problems haven’t hurt ticket sales for his heavyweight title bout against champion Evander Holyfield on Nov. 8 in Las Vegas.
All 15,800 seats at Caesars Palace have been sold, making it the fastest sellout ever at the outdoor arena. Ticket prices range from $200 to $1,200.
“We sold out in 14 days, which broke the old record of 16 days for the (Marvelous Marvin) Hagler-(Sugar Ray) Leonard fight in 1987,” said Phil Cooper, an assistant vice president at Caesars Palace.
However, the fight might have to be postponed or canceled if Tyson is charged with rape in Indiana. Next week, a grand jury will be selected to investigate allegations that Tyson raped an 18-year-old beauty pageant contestant at an Indianapolis hotel July 19.
