Airport Neighbor Upset by Show
Your glowing weekend coverage of the Van Nuys air expo was incomplete.
As a homeowner who lives one block from the airport, I was dismayed at having thousands of people driving, parking, walking and throwing their trash over my yard and my neighbors’ yards.
Congestion was incredible. Cars were double-parked. Driveways and even fire hydrants were blocked. Aircraft arriving, departing and “performing maneuvers” created intolerable noise levels, along with the further insult of watching Marine Chinook helicopters fly 75 feet over my back yard.
Beer sales were booming. A drunk jumped my neighbor’s fence, relieved himself, and headed back to the air show for another brew.
Joel Wachs, Hal Bernson and our other city fathers, what were you thinking?
