NEWPORT BEACH : Golf Tourney Today to Benefit Homeless

Television, film and sports personalities will be on hand today to raise money for the homeless during a golf tournament at the Newport Beach Country Club.

The Burrow Escrow Mid-Exchange Golf Classic will kick off at 10:30 a.m. with putting and driving contests. The tournament begins at 1 p.m., and awards will be handed out at 7 p.m. A raffle is also scheduled for the evening.

Fast-talking Federal Express spokesman John Moschitta Jr. and soap opera stars Nick Benedict (“All My Children”), James Callahan (“Days of Our Lives”) and Mark Arthur (“General Hospital”) will be among the 120 players on the greens on behalf of HomeAid, an Orange County Building Industry Assn. project that assists homeless families.

The club is at 1600 E. Coast Highway. Golfers who wish to participate in the tournament may sign up for $100. For more information, call (714) 558-9212.
