Share

An equestrian event to raise money for the Huntington Beach Art Center Foundation will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center.

A similar event last year raised $35,000 for the city’s planned new Art Center, said Naida Osline, director of the center. She said the foundation hopes to raise $50,000 this year.

“The (fund-raising) event, which features equestrian competition, entertainment and elegant dining for VIP guests, is expected to draw over 1,000 arts patrons and horse enthusiasts who will witness 400 horses and riders compete for $40,000 in prizes,” Osline said.

The opening event Saturday morning will feature a team of precision sky divers who will parachute into the center ring of the Equestrian Center. After that there will be an exhibition of the sport of vaulting--gymnastic routines performed on horseback.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. The equestrian center is at 18381 Golden West St.

Tickets may be purchased at the city’s community services office, on the fifth floor of the Civic Center, Main and Yorktown streets. VIP tickets are $75 per person and include ringside seating, continental breakfast, catered lunch, refreshments and parking. Tables of 10 in the VIP section are available for $700 and will receive priority seating.

General admission tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12 and seniors over 65.
