HUNTINGTON BEACH : Murder Victim’s Car Found in Santa Ana
Police on Tuesday found the car of a 21-year-old leasing agent whose body was discovered in her apartment Monday.
An autopsy confirmed that Lena M. Forbes was the victim of foul play, but police declined to say how she died.
Forbes’ white, four-door Hyundai was found near Ponderosa Street and Lenita Lane in Santa Ana. A local resident recognized the car from news reports and called police, who impounded it. Investigators have speculated that it was stolen by Forbes’ killer.
Lt. Ed McErlain said investigators are not revealing how Forbes was killed in order to weed out false confessors and witnesses. No suspects have been identified, he said. “Revealing the cause of her death might jeopardize the investigation,” he said.
Anyone with information about Forbes’ death is asked to call Detective Richard Hooper at (714) 960-8811.
