Compton : Newest Park Named After Late Mayor Tucker
The newest park in Compton, located at Laurel and Center streets near the Sunnycove housing development, has been named after the late mayor, Walter R. Tucker Jr.
Tucker, who was mayor for almost nine years, died of cancer last fall. His son, Walter III, was elected in April to replace him as mayor.
The City Council voted unanimously Monday to name the park after Tucker. The park is expected to open next month.
