Officials are seeking help in finding family members of an unidentified Asian man who was listed in critical condition Sunday, one day after he was hit by a car in an Anaheim crosswalk.

The man suffered major head trauma and is on life-support systems at UCI Medical Center in Orange, Police Sgt. Steve Walker said.

The victim is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds, wearing new jeans, a maroon leather belt, brown wraparound sunglasses, light blue socks, white Reeboks tennis shoes with red and blue trim, and a navy blue baseball cap with a patch embroidered with “Copeland,” according to hospital spokeswoman Elaine Beno.

The man did not carry a wallet or any identification papers, Walker said. He does not have distinguishable scars or birthmarks, according to hospital officials.

The victim, about 45 to 60, was struck about 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lincoln and Euclid avenues. The driver, Vicenta Ramirez, 24, of Anaheim, told investigators that she was driving her car eastbound on Lincoln Avenue when she saw the man in the crosswalk but could not avoid the collision.

It was not clear if the victim walked across the intersection against the light, Walker said. Half the witnesses interviewed said Ramirez was driving through a green light and the other half said she drove through a red signal, he added.

Family members or others with information about the man can contact the University of California Police Department at UCI Medical Center at (714) 634-5493, or the Anaheim Police Department’s traffic bureau at (714) 254-1861.
