Sitcom Shutdown: KTLA Channel 5’s five-year-old comedy checkerboard is history. The station, which has aired a different first-run sitcom at 7:30 p.m. weeknights for the last five seasons, is dropping the format because of a lack of new first-run comedies. For the coming season, “Full House” will be housed in the 7:30 p.m. time slot (starting Sept. 23), preceded by Geraldo Rivera’s “Now It Can Be Told” at 7 p.m. (debuting Sept. 9). Two new weekend shows are “Street Justice,” a syndicated drama from Stephen Cannell Productions starring Carl Weathers, and “Saved by the Bell,” NBC’s Saturday morning children’s show. A new late-night talk show hosted by Dennis Miller is due in January.
