Builders Square to Shut 3 Stores: The warehouse-style retailer of home-improvement products announced that it will close three stores in Riverside, Oxnard and Bakersfield. The San Antonio-based subsidiary of Kmart Corp. said about 300 employees would be affected. The three stores will close today to take inventory, then reopen Aug. 26 for several weeks to sell off stock. Builders Square said the three stores were among its smallest and did not fit into its market development program.
