Share

Police are seeking the public’s aid in finding a man they believe could help lead them to the killer of a young woman found dead in her bedroom nine days ago.

Police said the man was near the apartment of 21-year-old Lena M. Forbes on Aug. 4, just before her death.

The victim, who leased apartments at the Windjammer complex at 7701 Warner Ave. in Huntington Beach, was found in her bedroom by a maintenance worker on Aug. 5 after she failed to show up for work that day. Police have not said how she was killed.

In a statement on the man sought for questioning, Huntington Beach police stressed that they “do not consider this individual a suspect, but rather someone who might be able to help them in their investigation of this incident.”

The man was described as black, in his late 20s, 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with medium build and muscular arms and shoulders. He has short black hair trimmed close to the ears and light eyes, possibly green, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Richard Hooper at (714) 536-5970, or Sgt. E. Deuel at (714) 536-5947. Messages may be left at (714) 375-5066.
