Rafael Ruelas’ proposed bout with Pedro Mendoza in San Diego Saturday night has been canceled by the California Athletic Commission.

Ruelas must sit out the mandatory 45-day suspension period for having been knocked out by Mauro Gutierrez on July 30 in Reseda. Ruelas’ manager, Dan Goossen, had succeeded in having the suspension waived, contingent on a rematch with Gutierrez.
