Santa Maria’s Mayor
As a native Santa Marian with undergraduate and law degrees from the University of California, I resent the condescending tone reporter Miles Corwin takes in his hatchet job on Mayor George Hobbs (Part A, Aug. 5).
His suggestion that Hobbs wouldn’t have lasted this long in Santa Maria’s “neighboring cities . . . with highly educated residents” is both insulting and patronizing. Flaps over local politics aside, Santa Maria remains considerably more attractive than either San Francisco or Los Angeles.
Corwin could see that if he would view things outside the narrow prism of his own bias.
