THOUSAND OAKS : Man Hurt When He Stops Car Burglary
An Oxnard man was wounded Wednesday during a fight in the Oaks Mall parking lot when he tried to stop a suspect from stealing his car stereo, police said.
Raphael Moreno, 25, told the Sheriff’s Department that he had parked his car while shopping at the Thousand Oaks shopping center. When Moreno returned to his car, he found a man removing his stereo equipment with a second suspect nearby.
Moreno said he tried to get the man out of his car, and a fight ensued. During the fight, Moreno was slightly injured when the suspect tried to stab him with a screwdriver.
Ronald Pedersen, 20, of Thousand Oaks is being held in Ventura County Jail on suspicion of burglary. Bail is set at $10,323. The second suspect is being sought.
