Share

The City Council approved a $3.65-million agreement this week with the Sheriff’s Department for police services in the current fiscal year.

The agreement includes patrols, parking control, investigative officers, five crossing guards and a provision for booking fees for anyone arrested by Dana Point deputies. The city will now pay the county $154 for each person booked into Orange County Jail.

This year’s agreement also includes a new unit called the South County Regional Support Services, a group of office, traffic and investigative aides that are shared with the neighboring cities of Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo and San Juan Capistrano. Each city pays 25% of the total cost of the aides.
